VICTORIA COAST (EAST)
it was over fairly quickly and we got some good photos.

The next morning we were up and off handy as it was still quite a long drive to Phillip Island and we wanted to arrive by lunchtime. When we arrived we headed straight to the visitors centre as we wanted to buy our 3 park pass! I was very excited about seeing Koalas and Little Penguins close up! After finding a campsite and getting some lunch we headed out to the Koala Conservation Park. This was a great little refuge for Koalas, as they have suffered in recent times due to loss of habitat, getting run over and generally just by the effects of modern day life. We were extremely lucky on our walk around the boardwalk, as a Koala had decided to get up and go on walkabout. I was in my element and it was extremely hard not to touch or stroke it. They are so cute and cuddly, they really are a joy to watch. Like I say we were very lucky to see
one on the move, seeing as they can sleep for up to 20 hours per day. Their diet of eucalyptus leaves doesn’t give them much energy so they are very economical with their movement and they’re mainly nocturnal animals. If you have seen the photos you should count your lucky stars that you only got 5 koala photos, believe me we must have at least a hundred!!! I just couldn’t stop clicking away, they are amazing little creatures.

Rob finally dragged me away and we headed round the rest of the park which housed a variety of wildlife and information boards which was all very informative but not a patch on the little koalas!

After the koalas we headed towards Summerland Peninsula as this is the area where the famous Little Penguins are, and we had booked our visit to see them later on
