OAHU
month stay and we were on our way. We then got herded towards a doorway where we were told we had to wait for a bus to take us to baggage claim. To be honest I would have preferred to walk than hang around for around 10 minutes waiting for a bus to turn up. The bus finally arrived and everyone boarded then the lady, or should I say, big mama who didn’t like her job, started ordering all the standing people around, so nobody was stood over the yellow line! The bus was sort of talking to you as well, reminding you of this that and the other, the driver was telling people what to do, it was all getting too much! Finally we got going to baggage claim and picked up our stuff.

We didn’t have anywhere booked as we had been out of internet range in Fiji, but we thought it wouldn’t be a problem booking something from the airport. We had the trusty Rough Guide and had earmarked a few places, we
also thought there would be a host of info. Not a chance! It has to be said that Honolulu airport is the worst airport I have ever been to in my life. 3 times I have been through that airport and each time has been less than impressive. The arrivals area we came into was rubbish, to be fair there was an information point with an ancient Chinese lady who was very helpful, but the information available was terrible. There was a ring binder full of photocopies of varying accommodation and a wall full of phones. There wasn’t anywhere to get change for the phone, then there was no cash point, and the Chinese lady in the info booth was closing 30 minutes after the flight had landed. Grrrrr! Everything seemed a real big hassle. Every other airport I have been to in the world, has a cash point within the incoming terminal, no not this crappy effort of an airport. The kind Chinese lady gave us some change for the phone and we got a shared dorm booked. We eventually found a cash point after a good 10 minute walk,
