OAHU
lovely for swimming but the currents wah, they were something else. They were so strong it was unbelievable, we started to imagine what it must look like in the winter season as this was the prime area for most of the worlds major surfing competitions. The beach we were on was best know for its pipe surf (I think that’s the proper name for it!). After splashing around we headed back to the hostel to make a start on cooking dinner. When we got back we found out that it was one of the workers birthdays and they were throwing a small party for him in our apartment! Obviously we didn’t mind!

We had a great nights sleep and it did make a nice change to have our own room. What was also great about having free internet was that it meant we could do the Skype thing. After a long long time on various phone calls we headed down to another beach just around the corner and went for a swim. Again it was
heavenly! The water was very cooling and the currents well, they were equally as strong! It was really weird just sitting down next to the shore then have the water lap over you, then finding yourself heading backwards with the current, it amused us no-end! After our swim and laze on the beach we headed back to get changed and headed for the Waimea Valley. It was a little too expensive for us so we just checked out the free bits which were very pleasant. After this we again headed back to the hostel for a bit of a chill before we went out for a sunset walk. There was great anticipation with the surfers about some Northern swell which is quite unique, but would be very good for surfing. It was supposed to be hitting the shores the next morning but there were a fair few people out anyway. The walk was great, we kept stopping to watch the surfers in action, the waves were bigger than they were the previous day so we thought it may be the start of this unique swell. Got some good photos! We then walked further
