OAHU
another one but once we finally got going then the scenery was quickly changing from built up city to open lush countryside.
We got off the bus at Makupu’u Point and had planned to walk up to the viewpoint. Unfortunately we didn’t make it, as it wasn’t really a suitable walk for us, the boogie boards and in the heat of the day without much water! So we opted to head for the beach and eat our punnet full of pineapple, which was heavenly! After this we decided to catch the next bus to Kailua.
Kailua had a very picturesque beach, if not a little crowded but we went for a lovely cooling swim, there wasn’t really enough surf for the boogie boards. The water was lush but it did have a pretty strong current which we hadn’t really been used to after Fiji! We stayed for a couple of

hours then headed back to catch the bus back to Waikiki.
Once back at Waikiki we were determined to use these boogie boards which we had carried round with us all day! So a quick change and into the water we went. Now I don’t really understand what happened next, but neither of us could get any kind of speed up or catch a wave, as they say! We had both done boogie boarding before and I went like the clappers when I did it in Bude! How come it didn’t seem to work in Hawaii?! Arh well it didn’t and neither of us mastered the art of boogie boarding Hawaiian stylee. So we headed back to the hostel for a shower and to pack, as we were off to North Shore in the morning. We had decided to head out to unspoiled North Shore, home to the biggest surf in the world but only in winter!
