BACK TO SAN FRANCISCO
the culinary delights of the campsite bar and restaurant. The food was definitely better than it looked! By this point Sue had been converted to drinking beer, but like me only as a last resort! Rob was horrified about the cost of Cath’s glass of wine and did bang on about it for quite some time - hee he!!! We then decided to head to our campsite for a lovely campfire.

We decided to go on one of the campsite walks before heading off to San Francisco as we were in no particular rush. The drive from here up to Monterrey was a really nice part of the coast. Cath also wanted to stop and go around the 18 mile drive, a toll road which is particularly scenic. Some of the houses within the estate were enormous and you could only dream about living somewhere so picturesque. We stopped for various photo shoots and soon realised that time was ticking by faster than we thought. Once we got to Santa Cruz
we headed straight for the freeway to San Francisco and due to Rob’s expert map reading skills we found our way straight to the city and hotel.

We checked in and the Rob and I went to park the mini-van in the hotels recommended car park. It was quite strange just leaving the car running and handing over the keys to some complete stranger but I guess that’s the way they park cars over here! Again we had a shared room with Cath and Andy due to it being exactly the same price for 4 as it is for 2 - strange but true! The hotel wasn’t the grandest place we have ever stayed, but it was clean and very cheap! The Chinese staff were extremely helpful and everyone was happy.

Before long it was time to hit the town, we first went for a walk to Union Square, then down towards the harbour.
