BACK TO SAN FRANCISCO
took us all the way back to Union Square, not far from the ferry terminal. The cable car ride was brilliant. Rob, Cath and Sue opted for the standing on the side option, but I went to the back as I wanted to take some photos - yeah you guessed it - took far too many! It is such a fun way to ride around the city and a definite must!
We thought that rather than pay an extortionate price for a cruise around the harbour ,we would get the ferry across the bay and go to Sausilito for lunch. We would then at least have seen all the sites from the water - Golden Gate, Alcatraz and the city skyline. We knew from my Mum’s visit how nice Sausilito was so were looking forward to showing it to the others. It didn’t take us long to find a suitable restaurant but the meal was marred by the fact that the waiter included and over estimated the tip on the bill. That is the one thing I don’t like about

American restaurants, the fact that they expect a 15% tip on all meals served. I don’t mind it as much when they at least leave the tip blank, but when they put there expected amount on and moan if you don’t give it, then it becomes a bit annoying. At the end of the day I don’t mind paying for good service but when the waiter leaves your food on the serving hatch for 5 minutes before giving it you, then I don’t really think they deserve a 15% tip but there you go - they expect it every time, good service or not!
After much grumbling about the tipping service of America we were wanting to head to the bus stop to get the bus across the Golden Gate and back into the city. Eddie took it upon himself to get directions much to the amusement of everyone else! There is a standing joke within the Ditchfield family that Eddie never knows where he is or where he has been, so the thoughts of him
