CALGARY
river again where we decided to head into a local pub and give there beer a taste! To my utter amazement and joy they had Strongbow, I can’t tell you how much of a relief it was to be drinking a proper pint instead of these namby pamby lager stuff!!! To be honest it tasted a bit funny at first but then my taste buds soon adjusted from larger to cider mode and it was the best pint I’d had in a long time! The pub was pretty good too but rather expensive so we decided to head away from the river and see if we could find a cheaper drinking establishment! We found a place on the main shopping street which was certainly cheaper if a little less aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but it had a free pool table so I challenged Rob to a few games of pool and as usual lost the lot! I have to say that even though I feel my pool playing has improved somewhat since our travels began, it is still not a patch on Rob’s game and it is very disheartening for me to lose so many times but I do feel sorry for Rob
sometimes having to keep playing someone as bad as me! I have heard him mumble on more than one occasion how he wished Russ or Gary was here to have a decent game with him! Talking of Russ we were both getting really excited about meeting up with him, Ruth and the kids. This would be our last lot of visitors so to speak and the thoughts of spending 12 days RV’ing with them was something to really look forward too.
Again we woke up to bright sunshine streaming through the curtains, yet another sunny day. We were keeping everything crossed that the weather would hold out for our time in the Rockies as everything always looks better with a bit of sunshine. After a brief chat with my Mum on messenger we headed out to the tourist office then onto the parks office to get some walking and cycling maps. We were hoping to rent bikes but it turned out that it would be a bit too expensive and we guessed if we were going to hire bikes it would be better to get them in
