CALGARY


The next morning we moved out of our room and into the dorm. To be fair this was the best dorm either of us had ever stayed in. Each bed was individual and had a built in wardrobe and surround which separated you from everyone else, it was like having your own personal space. The only problem was that we were in the room with the hostel busybody, a Croatian lady who had moved to Calgary to get a job in the oil industry and if you had the misfortune to make eye contact with her, that was it, you were stuck in a one way conversation for what seemed like forever! She was kind hearted but a definite gossip! We had decide to stay around the hostel as Rob had to do a bit of word for Chris our website provider and I decided that it was time to get both the Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish phrase books out and start learning! After a good few hours hard work, we headed out for a short walk just to get some air and daylight! It felt like it had been a very productive day so boa noite or Buenos
noches! Impressive eh?

The next morning we woke up to find grey skies. We had been planning to visit the zoo today but the weather really wasn’t up to it so stayed around the hostel most of the day catching up on diaries and photos. We did venture out later on to purchase Cath and Julie’s birthday presents, there were some fantastic ethnic shops in Calgary and we had to be very retrained with their presents! We then headed back to our cheap drinking hole for a couple of pints and games of pool!

The next morning was thankfully sunny so we headed out to the Olympic Park, a bus ride out of downtown Calgary. This is the park of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games and was a good place to spend an afternoon. We got a ski lift up to the famous ski jump where we were reminded on the commentary
