CALGARY
Calgary we spent at the zoo. We had both had a few misgiving about the idea of a zoo until we realised how much conservation work the zoo actually does and how important zoo’s are in this day and age. It is a sad fact of life that if zoo’s didn’t exist that animal populations would suffer even more than they have already. The zoo was fantastic, the animal enclosures were as natural as they could be and the array of animals was mind-blowing. As you will see from our photos that we had a pretty good look around the place and to have a snow leopard look you in the eyes (even if it is through a fence) is a pretty magical experience, they are exceptionally majestic animals. Each and every animal was a joy to see, I won’t waffle too much about them as you can see for yourself what we saw, but it was a fabulous day, always a joy for animals suckers such as myself and Rob. We were shattered by the time we had finished at the zoo, we must have spent at least 6 hours there, so it was a very weary tram ride
back to hostel then a quick shower to revive ourselves before packing and getting very giddy about our trip to the Rockies with Russ and Ruth!
We woke up the next morning after having a pretty awful nights sleep due to busy body Croatian lady packing till the early hours of the morning then getting up at the crack of dawn and waking everyone up. Dorms would be fine if everyone who stayed in them was considerate to other dorm users and again our dorm experience had been ruined by some noisy inconsiderate sod but hey what the hell we were meeting up Russ and Ruth and picking up our 21 foot long RV - our home for the next 12 days! Life could be worse!!!
