CALGARY
the Rockies than here, so we took the walking option! Calgary is a great city to just wander around, it doesn’t feel polluted and there are loads of parks and trails. It was an absolutely glorious day so after picking up a few leaflets we headed back to the hostel to get a picnic together. We then headed down the river to have a wonderful autumn picnic. Wow this was our second autumn of the year, our first being in New Zealand. Travelling for so long has given us the chance to experience all different seasons at all different times, and its really quite strange, but autumn is a great time of the year and it was lovely to see all of the golden red leaves and feel that crisp autumn air. As is was Sunday the park was busy with fellow picnickers, families playing all sorts of games and cyclists zooming around! It had a really good buzz about the place. After our picnic we decided to have a game of frisbee with our travelling frisbee that we bought in New Zealand. It is really cool as it is made out of soft
material therefore you can’t injury yourself with it, or so we thought! After a particularly good throw by yours truly, Rob made a spectacular dive to catch it but unfortunately somehow managed to whack his finger with his opposite hand and all I saw was him crumple to the floor in pain. I have to say even I was pretty amazed that Rob could injury himself with this type of frisbee but he had and was in quite some pain so the frisbee game had to be abandoned while we checked out Rob’s swollen finger and tried to suss out if it was broken or not. Thankfully he could move it so we figured it wasn’t broken, but it did swell up quite badly and turn a funny purple colour! After chilling for a while we continued with our walk and went over to the other side of the river. By this point we were feeling rather tired so headed back to the hostel for our last night of peace and quite before our move the next day to the dorms.
