NEW YORK CITY
Due to it being around 1 p.m. and us being 3 blocks from Central Park, our first stop was to find something to eat then spend the afternoon in Central Park. I had loved the place last time I had visited New York and was definitely looking forward to seeing it again. We grabbed a quick slice of pizza then headed into the park. It was a beautiful autumn day and I couldn’t have thought of a better way of spending a Friday afternoon. Central Park is huge, with loads of little paths veering off in every direction. We spent a good few hours wandering around, we checked out the lake, the tower, Strawberry Fields and all of the other touristy things. Unfortunately the ice rinks weren’t operational yet, which was a bit of a shame as I was looking forward to doing a spot of Torvill and Dean with old Roberta! After wandering around for hours our feet were starting to tell us that they needed a rest. We also hadn’t had much to eat at lunch time so decided to jump on the subway and head down to Times Square
for a quick look round and to find something for dinner.
As I had remembered Times Square wasn’t and is not one of my favourite parts of New York. I find it very tacky and far too hectic and Rob was of the same opinion. After yet more wandering, we found that the cheapest and quickest options for food was Italian. Oh no pizza again! This time we had it with spaghetti and salad! It didn’t matter that the food wasn’t the greatest, it was just a big relief to be sitting down. After this we slowly headed back to the subway and found ourselves back at the hostel in less than 30 minutes and we had a fairly early night due to our extremely early start!
We were up early the next morning as we wanted to do as much sightseeing as possible so we didn’t hang around after breakfast. We
