NEW YORK CITY
in Times Square. We then found out that you could only buy travellers cheques with either an American Express card or cash - hmmm. We then thought we’d try and get them through a bank but again we had no joy. It seems that in America you can not purchase anything from a bank unless you have a bank account with them - rather annoying really. We then headed for the nearest park, grabbed a coffee and sat down feeling rather deflated. We had wanted to purchase a fair few travellers cheques but now were limited to two days worth of cash point money - still it was better than nothing.
We wandered around for a while but were feeling fairly tired so decided to head back to the hostel via Central Park. Whilst heading towards the park we got caught up in a film set, all pedestrians were stopped and told to keep off the special effects! We didn’t know what film it was or who was staring in it but it

looked a fairly big production. We were enthusiastically informed by some random bloke that it was some futuristic (can’t remember the name of it now!) film staring Will Smith! The lights, camera, action all seemed to happen rather quickly and before we knew it, the scene had been shot and everyone was allowed to continue on their way! We did have to chuckle though, we heard the random bloke who informed us about the film on his mobile phone boasting to one of his friends that he was on the film set of Will Smith’s new movie - well if you can call standing on the pavement being held back by the security staff as being on a film set then I suppose he had a point, but we figured he was exaggerating the situation somewhat!!!
We walked down to Central Park and had thought about carrying on all the way to our hostel but again our feet were killing us so we opted for the subway train. We ordered
