CUZCO
Thankfully we were both slightly rested and after the bus moved off we were treated to Steve Martin’s version of Pink Panther film. Not what you expect yourself to be watching at 8.30 in the morning but mildly amusing none the less. Well the bus break down hadn’t been such a bad thing, we had managed to get a few hours more sleep than we would had the bus have carried on. We arrived in Cuzco 3 hours behind schedule but we weren’t time dependent on anything so it really didn’t matter!
As usual we had pre-booked a hostel in Cuzco. We took a taxi from the bus station and were less than impressed with what we saw. The hostel was not as attractive as it sounded, the doors and windows didn’t shut properly and there was no indoor sitting area, fine if its summer but not when it’s in cold winter and you‘re at altitude. I was still really tired so went to bed for a couple of hours. When
I got up we both decided that this hostel wasn’t up to scratch and we would go and look for another one. We thought we would have to stay the night due to me having a nap but we knew we could put up with it for one night.
We wandered off in search of a nice hostel and it didn’t take us long to find one. We stumbled across Casa La Gringa and although a bit on the hippy dippy side in terms of its range of Shaman therapies
with the mind altering cactus, San Pedro. San Pedro was the plant the Shamans of old used in Ancient Peru and lucky for us Gringos the same ritual was on offer for anyone who wanted to go find themselves in a full day’s hallucinogenic bonanza where your life would be reborn and you’d come back a thoroughly enlightened soul!!! Well, we’ve met a few of these so called enlightened souls on our way and whilst
