TIGER LEAPING GORGE
one apple pancake which was scoffed down with much admiration for the chef!

We had about an hours walk until we reached the dreaded 28 bends, this is the part of the trek where everybody struggles and wishes they had a magic carpet to get them to the top! We set of at a steady pace but found ourselves struggling as the terrain was very steep and it was warm, there was no sign of rain and the clouds were looking like they may well clear. We stopped for a rest after one particularly steep climb and were starting to get a bit worried about these 28 bends, if we were this knackered already how would we cope with those! We again found ourselves encountering steep hills and as were looking down we saw 4 written on one of the rocks and realised we were at and had already done 4 of the dreaded 28 bends! We plodded slowly upward and sweated like a piiiigggg! There was lots of rocks with the numbers on
and we couldn’t quite work out whether the numbers were relating to the number of bends we had done or whether someone had just randomly put numbers on rocks for a laugh as they didn’t seem to be much order to this numbering system! We were climbing pretty high and the bends were pretty tough but I don’t think they were as bad as we had mentally envisaged! There is also a discrepancy as to how many bends there actually are, some say there are 28 and other well over 30 odd
I can see why everybody looses count, it is the last thing on your mind trying to remember how many bends you’ve walked up and around! But we were spurred on by the number 20 written on a rock and soon found ourselves getting quite giddy as we started to count down the number left to climb! Then hey presto all of a sudden we were at the top - mission completed we had survived, there is a wicked viewpoint and cane bend thingy that we fell upon to catch our breath! It must
