TIGER LEAPING GORGE
thinking only this last bit to do and then we’re done! The short sit on the ferry did us the world of good and we took the longer but easier route up the final part, Greg bless him kept telling us that this was the last hill we would have to climb for ages, so we took our time, kept stopping to admire the views and were spurred on by the fact we knew there was a minibus waiting to take us to a place for dinner. This was the same bus that were supposed to get at 11, but in these parts of the world the buses wait for you, there is a very flexible timetable and seeing as we had the most seats on the bus it went when we were ready, I must admit I did feel a bit guilty about this, seeing as we were not only late but then going to stop and have slap up meal! The food was great but there was far too much of it and it was quite spicy, not so good for us hungover westerners but the did the best we could, the bus driver apparently was happy because he could go home and have his lunch before taking us on the 3 hour
ride to Lijang. We finally got going at 1.30 and were told about that we were to go over the mountain pass, which was great as the scenery was going to be fantastic, the only slight down side and I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining was the fact that the road was more of a cobbled dirt track and was as bumpy as hell, it felt like you were sitting on a washing machine on spin mode, not so great for the old and extremely tired bones! It was literally bouncing you out of your seat so as you can imagine there was huge relief when we finally reached tarmac! I managed to fall asleep for about an hour which obviously speeded up the journey so by the time we got to Lijang I felt quite refreshed unlike poor Rob who hadn’t slept a wink because I kept falling onto him!
