TIGER LEAPING GORGE
assured that we weren’t too far off our lunch destination which was the Half Way House. Funnily enough the pace quicken and we were soon within sight of our lunch venue and also half way through our 3 day gorge walk! The Half Way House was yet another lovely guest house, its no wonder that these people look so happy, their life style is idyllic and so very peaceful except for the stream of scenery admirers that past through their way. Nothing is too much trouble for these people they are extremely welcoming and I suppose thankful of your custom as I’m sure it eases and enhances their lifestyle being able to make what must seem like easy money for them, by that I mean running guest houses and cooking for tourists instead of just relying on farming to provide a living for themselves and their small communities.

Refreshed after a delicious stir fried vegetable sandwich and a bowl of egg and
vegetable fried rice we were off again, this time we had about 2 hours left of our hike until we reached Tina’s our guest house for the night. There was yet more amazing scenery, loads of waterfalls and lush valleys, we were passed by various mules, one of which got quite attached to me and Rob and was following us, we passed a sort of fork in the path and then heard a load of shouting from behind, we turned and saw the herder lady shouting and waving her hands at us, whoops we made the mule go the wrong way, she started running over to us still shouting and cussing the poor old mule, but she was pretty fast for her age is has to be said, she gave the mule of good ticking off turned it round sent it on its way and she seemed to be thanking us profusely for stopping, before turning and waving her stick at the other mules which had started to follow the first one!
