we sat admiring the view then headed back to our bungalow. The view over the river and towards the very pointy mountains called Karsts reminded us very much of Yangshuo in China, it was that same type of scenery.

After a shower and change of clothes we decided it was time to venture into Vang Vieng town to see what it had to offer. It very much looked like a fun kind of place most definitely geared towards young people! We weren’t wrong! I think if we hadn’t have been staying outside of the town it would have become fairly tiresome fairly quickly but seeing as we weren’t it was great! It was awash with bars and restaurants and what stuck us as most odd was that the vast majority of bars on the main road just showed episodes of Friends repeatedly! The Irish lads we had met in Hue had warned us about this but I guess it hadn’t really registered until we actually saw it with our own eyes!

Much as I don’t mind the odd episode, seeing rows and rows of people lounging around watching it made us head straight for the sports bar and catch up with some good old football! It turns out you could more or less watch Friends 24 hours a day if you so wished!!! Most of the seating is a sort of sit/lie down affair so it wasn’t long before we found ourselves munching away through a delicious veggie pizza, drinking good old Beerlao and watching ESPN’s round up of the Premiership and preview of forthcoming games whilst listening to Tracy Chapman on a very loud sound system!

The builders were due to start work around 8.00 a.m. and we’d thought well that’s not too bad I guess. But due to their chilled approach, it was quite easy to sleep through their work! I woke up around 9.30 but Rob managed to sleep a little longer until I finally woke him up around 11.00!!! It was another lovely
