VANG VIENG
the joys of selling our house!!!
After our pit stop it was time to hit the river again, you may think it is quite dangerous drinking and tubing but really it wasn’t. The river was hardly moving and wasn’t deep in the slightest, it only came up to my waist even when I stood up in it! I don’t think it would be a good idea after the rainy season but now it was just fine! We had become part of a crowd on this next part of the river, we were a proper continental little group, there was of course the brummie lad, a couple from Austria, a couple from Switzerland and a 57 year old man from Germany and all of us were on round the world trips! It was brilliant floating along in a tractor inner-tube having an in-depth conversation about how to visit Australia and South America on the cheap with the girl from Austria!!!

But it is so different from how the UK drinks, although beer is sold everywhere nobody really gets out of control drunk, its definitely more a sociable affair or at least it was with our group! We were soon back on the river and floating along again, but by this point the sun was just about to go behind a big cloud and when it did it made things rather chilly! But it wasn’t much further back to town so it was bearable! As we neared the town, we were met by a group of kids who came paddling out to us and then proceeded to pull us back to shore whilst chatting to us in very broken English. They were so sweet, and although they were obviously after money, it really was a pleasure seeing their faces light up when we gave them a bit of cash at the end of our trip. So that was it, our tubing was over and although
