VANG VIENG
it wasn’t adrenalin filled the relaxed approach to river sports suited Laos down the ground and it was a great way to spend the day.
The next day we decided to have a fairly chilled day as we needed to check out flights to Japan. We still needed to book a flight from Taipei to Tokyo, as it wasn’t included in our round the world ticket. Internet was really cheap and there were some good cafes so we plonked ourselves in one for a marathon Japan fact-finding internet session. We found a flight with Taiwan’s very own Eva Airlines! We also found our some invaluable info on Japan and found some relativity cheap Tokyo accommodation!
On our last full day we headed off on a big walk, we were going to go to another big cave but it would have worked out at over 4 quid to get over and back

on the last bridge before the cave, which we thought was a bit steep! We had already walked a fair way and just diverted our walk as the countryside was so nice and the weather wasn’t so hot, so it was just good to be out in the beautiful outdoors. We must have walked for a good few hours before we turned and headed back towards the town.
After the usual teatime chill and shower we found ourselves heading into town for the last time as we were leaving for Louang Prabang the next morning. We went to the best veggie restaurant we’d found had a good feed then went to our favourite bar for one last Beerlao before heading back to our bungalow for an early night as our bus was leaving at 8.00 a.m. next morning.
