VANG VIENG
but it took me a little longer to master my tube!!! I had trouble staying in it for starters as they are pretty big things tractor inner-tubes and as I later found out I kept paddling with my hands the wrong way which meant I didn’t move - doh!!! After a good 10 minutes I got the hang of it and started floating off down-stream!!! It was a very leisurely affair, the river was very calm and didn’t have any rapids of any great ferocity, so it was most pleasant just floating along! Definitely a more leisurely pursuit than the rafting on the Ganges! After around 10 minutes we heard the gentle sounds of Bob Marley blasting out from somewhere, and as we rounded the corner we saw our first bar stop!

There was a host of people relaxing and a death slide over the river, which once spotted by Rob was a definite on his agenda! We paddled towards the bank and after a few failed attempts to get to the
riverbank we were thrown a pole to grab onto before we were hauled towards the side! Whilst trying to get out my foot slipped and I ended up going straight in the water and got soaked! Rob also ended up in but that was due to the fact that he was trying to help someone else get to the riverbank! It was great fun. After Rob had a go on the death slide we ended up with a Beerlao and sat admiring the surroundings, sitting in the sunshine and watching a host of people tackle the death slide, which was hilarious!
We got talking to a brummie lad who was really nice, and seemed to love Laos as much as we did! As we were sat there chatting we checked the time and saw it was just after 2 p.m. and realised that it would have been 7.00 a.m. UK time - on Monday morning!! Wow! How smug were we? There was us, chilling whilst tubing in the lovely sunshine whilst everyone in the UK would be getting up for work, probably with proper winter Monday morning blues - ah
