GREAT OCEAN ROAD & MELBOURNE
Apostles to check them out more carefully once we had unloaded the car. They are magnificent to look at, as they are gigantic limestone pillars, some rising up to 65 metres out of the ocean. These pillars were once part of the coastline but have come un-attached over time from the mainland and sit just off shore. There aren’t 12 of them anymore, as a few have fallen down due to erosion but this doesn’t distract from the sheer beauty of the place. There is a walkway in place as you’re not allowed on the beach anymore, I guess in-case anymore fall. It is definitely the best and most dramatic coastline either of us have seen so far on our travels. From here we continued along the coast as there are many more areas to head to and check out, again the same kind of dramatic coastline. Huge surf pounds away at these beautifully coloured cliffs which makes for some very staggering beautiful and rugged coastline. We finished off the day in the Loch Ard Gorge area, we found a deserted beach and basically just sat
and watched the surf and sunset - pure bliss!!! This was definitely the best part of the Great Ocean Road, we’d had another fabulous day but were very much looking forward to the next couple of days and catching up with Kelly and Jason.
En-route to Kelly and Jason’s we stopped off at Timboon Cheese tasting factory. Rob was disappointed with the amounts of cheese you got but apart from that it was rather good! The cheese was yummy so we bought a couple of different ones for a little present for Kelly and Jason. We also drove to a winery as we were going to buy them a nice bottle of wine, but it was closed so we headed to the nearest local shop and got one there. We knew we were going to be early arriving in Warrnambool, Kelly and Jason didn’t get back from work till around 6 so we decided to drive around the town and check out its sights. Firstly we went to Logan’s beach, which is famous
