GREAT OCEAN ROAD & MELBOURNE
wasn’t looking forward to changing 6 flights with 3 different airlines. Also Emirates had wanted 100 US$ to change the date on each flight! We were bracing ourselves for a fight with the airlines over these charges as we didn’t feel it was fair, as it wasn’t our fault that we couldn’t put in the correct dates. As predicted it was a nightmare and it took forever. In the end I had to change all of the flights with KLM, our airline carrier, who it has to be said were very helpful, but then I still had to phone each airline myself and check that all of the details had been changed!!! Remembering all of the hassle we’d had selling our house, I was so very glad that I didn’t have to deal with any real responsibility on a day to day basis!!! On the upside it was looking that we may get away with paying only one lot of 100 US$ due to us changing all of the tickets with our carrier! Round the world tickets must be the bain of airlines lives, even the lady at KLM said they were always a nightmare to
change, due to the dates being so far in advance and general terms and conditions constantly changing! So by the end of the afternoon we had our flights planned out, to us arriving in New York on the 16th October!!! All that was left to do was pop into the Sydney office of KLM and they would re-issue our tickets - phew!!! We were keeping everything crossed that we wouldn’t have any difficulties as we were going into KLM the day before we were due to fly to New Zealand - talk about last minute!!!

That night me and Kelly cooked a risotto which was really tasty and the first time I had cooked in ages. It was good to see I hadn’t lost my risotto touch!!! We had a lovely evening our last (probably) ever with Kelly and Jason, unless we ever the chance to meet up with them some time in the future - fingers crossed!
