GREAT OCEAN ROAD & MELBOURNE
We had a good wander and came across a lovely little area which was holding a Sustainable Living Festival. We watched a really good band - Urban Dub Collective, then went to check out the food stalls. After a little snack we decided to go and check out the botanical gardens. To get to them, we had to walk down to the river and past the big sports stadium where they hold the Australian Open. We found the gardens and they were fantastic. It was a lovely sunny day and there were lots of people around having picnics and generally enjoying their Saturday afternoon - top stuff.

We ended up staying out for the evening and going out for a meal. It was such a lovely city that we didn’t fancy heading back to a fairly grotty hostel kitchen to cook. Melbourne is also famous for its variety of well priced and good quality restaurants so we thought we’d see if that claim was true! We headed to Chinatown
and found a great little Chinese/Malaysian place which was superb. After this we were very full and fairly tired so we headed back to the hostel.

We had a fairly relaxed morning and met a very interesting American man in the kitchen, he was a walking history lesson!!! Very much along the lines of Dr Hoof! He was a really interesting guy if a little intense first thing in the morning! So we got a rundown of his personal history and that of the South Pacific Islands. After our full on history lesson we made our escape and headed into Melbourne once again. Today we were contemplating going to the aquarium so we headed down there, but it was fairly pricey to get in and was extremely busy so we gave it a miss. We decided to go and check out the harbour area instead.
