LOS ANGELES
the sticky carpet we weren't sure why they were under the impression that this place resembled a hotel! We tried to check in but the girl behind reception asked us to wait as it was checking out time so she would be grateful if we gave her a few minutes to sort things out. We went to the common room and grabbed a coffee, what a morning! As time was ticking by Rob thought it would be a good idea to go back to the car for the rest of our stuff. Whilst he was away the girl from reception came and said I could check in, so off I went. When I got to the desk she informed me that the room had been flooded and therefore we didn't have a booking - a likely story! She said she had spoken to another hostel and booked us in there - damn! Rob then came back with loads of stuff only for me to tell him about the room. We grabbed our rucksacks and went to the other hostel to check in. When we got there we found out that it was more expensive and was fairly crap but we booked in again as we didn't really have much choice
and time was definitely ticking by. Rob wanted to get the car back to the airport but I said that I wanted to go and ask to see this so called flooded room as I didn't believe it was and was fairly cheesed off by the whole thing - not the best start to LA one has ever had! So we went back in and I asked the reception girl if I could see the flooded room as I didn't believe her story, she told me I couldn't but at the same time the manageress came into the reception area and asked what the problem was. I told her and told her I wasn't happy and she said, 'oh I have a 3 bedroomed apartment a few blocks down, you can have a room for $45 per night' I asked her if that was each and she said 'no for the two of you'! I was dumfounded! What a turn up for the books! So the next thing we know, we're heading back round to the other hostel we've booked into, asking for a refund and heading towards the car with all of camping stuff and a Scottish block who was going to show us the apartment - wow things move fast in
