LOS ANGELES
I said I would like to see Hollywood but other than that wasn't really sure what was good. Dan arranged to come and pick us up around midday so we'd take it from there. We went down to the bottom of our pedestrian street, we waited for approximately 10 minutes (we were early Dan!) then sure enough a very posh looking blue car with a DannyUK reg plate pulled up in front of us! Sure enough it was Dan. Wow his car was posh and very fast and doing only 10 miles to the gallon a real economy vehicle!!! The first place we headed was in the general direction of Hollywood, now what you have to bear in mind is that this is one big city and everything is really spread out. So when we say the first stop was Hollywood, that was literally 20 odd miles away! It was great being driven around though and after cruising down Sunset Boulevard we headed towards Bel Air, home to the stars. There were various little stands at the side of the road selling 'Star Maps' but Dan said they were so out of date it wasn't even worth
getting one, and the fact was we weren't really that bothered who lived where! You can't really see any of the houses as they are set so far back from the road but the gate and driveways gave you some indication of how big the actual houses or mansions would be. Dan then suggested that the Getty Centre is a good place to visit, and it was one of the things we wanted to do as well, so that was our next stop.
The normal car park was full so we had to go to the overflow which was around 7-8 miles away, again giving you some indication of the size of LA! We got the shuttle bus back which took us directly up to the Getty Centre, much to Rob and Dan's disappointment as they wanted to get the train from the nearest car park! The Getty Centre was an amazing place, it is LA's attempt at an international art gallery and to be fair to it does a very good job! If you can avoid Rob and Dan's derogatory
