NORWEGIAN COASTAL VOYAGE
good look round and checking out the botanical gardens but we’ve not really been too lucky with the dates of stuff. For a start it is national day in Norway on 17th May and this is when they gained independence from the Swedes, and this year is their centenary, and for some bizarre reason state off licenses are closed for 3 days before and a day after the national day! We had a great little racket going when we still had a good supply of wine, we would buy a bottle with dinner, then take it back to the cabin drink the rest of it and fill it up with our own and drink that with dinner the night after. Now you might think meanies, but seeing as the cheapest bottle of wine is 17 quid for a lovely bottle of Italian, but having been to the region in Italy and knowing it costs about 3quid needs must!

Anyway everywhere in Tromso was closed so we wandered the streets. When the boat was docking I spotted
some floodlights on top of a hill, so seeing as everything was closed we wandered up in that direction and yeap it was Tromso’s ground. Remembering Chelsea’s heroics in one of the most bizarre games of football I have ever seen, Ruud’s Rocksteady Crew battling hard in blizzard conditions where they had to keep brushing the snow off the touchline and Gianlucca’s second half hatrick! Beautiful! Anyway the mighty Tromso we playing the even mightier Bodo so the town was buzzin with supporters, good atmosphere and there was a local Beatles cover band on in a big tent, so we went for a pint in the local Irish bar, they have cider here and its top!
