YOSEMITE & TWIN LAKES

12TH - 16TH AUGUST

After the car drama and a few wrong turns we finally found ourselves heading towards Groveland with a car full of very cramped passengers! It’s about a 3 - 4 hour drive to Groveland and we stopped en-route for a spot of lunch and to give everyone a chance to stretch their legs. We arrived in Groveland later than we had planned and left Cath, Andy and Eddie at the campsite whilst the rest of us went shopping! Our pitch wasn’t too bad although a little on the small side but the campsite was good and also had a swimming pool which had been tried and tested by Cath and Eddie.

Sue and Eddie’s little cabin was really cool and it also had a barbeque, so you can probably imagine what was for tea! Unfortunately we had bought some easy-light charcoal which proved to be a bit of a pain as it burned really quickly, in fact by the time we were ready to put the food on, the
charcoal was past its best which resulted in some OK barbequed food - not the best thing any of us has ever cooked to be honest!!! All was not lost though as we all washed down with some ice cold beers whilst sitting around a lovely little campfire.

The next morning we were all up fairly handy and after a good breakfast headed off to Yosemite. Groveland is around 45 minutes drive to the National Park entrance and then the actual valley floor is another 25 miles from the park entrance!!! We had decided to walk the Mist Trail again as it was such a great walk when we had done it with Mum, Roland and Jo. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the waterfalls were still mightily impressive even thought most of the snow must have melted by now. We had also forgotten how strenuous the walk was and the last part up to the actual top was a killer! Once we were at the top everyone agreed that it was
