YOSEMITE & TWIN LAKES
to the café for a beer while the others did something else, hmmm, can’t really remember what they did! After a couple of beers we headed back to the campsite and chilled for a while. Sue and Eddie were going to eat in the restaurant again but we had decided to have another go at barbequing! There were a group of barbeques set in a lovely little garden near to the lake and it was a vast improvement on the last one! We were aware that it was starting to go dark and made sure that everything was packed away and washed up before dark as we didn’t really fancy and encounter with a hungry bear!
We headed back to the campsite and lit a fire then Rob and I went off to get Sue and Eddie as we weren’t sure that they would find the way to the campsite in the dark, as they had only been to it once in the daylight, and we didn’t want them wandering around in bear country in the dark - safety in

numbers and all of that! To be honest I felt a whole lot better about the bear situation than I had at the environmental camp simply because of the number of people that were around! We had a great fire and sat up drinking yet more wine and chatting until the wee small hours - well probably about 11 o’clock!!! Rob and I walked back with Sue and Eddie in the hope that we might see the bear but it was nowhere to be seen! We stayed up chatting with Cath and Andy for a while and at one point, Cath said errr what’s that and we all turned round and saw a bear standing up on it’s back legs trying to get into an RV a few pitches up the campsite from us!!! The next minute it got back down on all fours and wandered off into the darkness in a disgruntled sort of manner - wow we had seen the bear! What an incredible sight! it was a cinnamon colour and seemed very big when stood on its back legs! We were so glad to have seen one if only for a short amount of time, but at least we can say that we have seen a bear
