YOSEMITE & TWIN LAKES
sunset by the time we got there so we decided against it. What it did mean though was that Andy could go and check out El Capitan, a famous climbing rock. He was very excited about viewing this big chunk of granite!!! We pulled up in the car park and Clarky was off like a shot, there was no stopping him! The rest of us followed at a more sedate pace but he was already chatting to a fellow climber who had friends that were actually climbing it. Personally I think they are nutters but hey each to their own!!! It takes between 3 - 5 days to climb this vertical piece of rock and these people not only have to take all of their supplies with them, they also have to take their accommodation as well! Their accommodation resembles an oversized stretcher which balances precariously against the side of the rock! Not having a great head for heights I know for sure that this is definitely not the sport for me but like I say each to their own and wow you must have to have some bottle to take on a sport like that! We
got various photos of Andy in front of the great El Cap! Then dragged him away kicking and screaming back to the car before bundling him in and locking the door! (only kidding!). Cath had kindly offered to drive and I was glad of a break, we took it slowly back to the park entrance stopping at various points along the way to take yet more photos of this incredibly beautiful place.
We arrived back fairly late and decided against another barbeque, Cath and I opted for good old beans and cheese on toast which was something I’d not eaten in a long time and it was fantastic! We finished off the evening with a good helping of wine whilst sat around the campfire. Eddie was on form with his campfire stories and had everyone creased up laughing at some of his life’s exploits!
It would have been good to have been staying another night but as
