COPACABANA
27TH - 31ST MARCH
Down at the Copa, Copacabana …… yeap that awful song springs to mind again!!! We were heading towards Copacabana but first we had a longer than expected stop in Puno bus station, our last town in Peru. The bus schedule had said our stop would be no longer than 35 minutes but in reality it was at least 2 hours, not so great when you arrive there at 5.15 am. It was freezing and the bus station didn’t really hold much appeal. After the cheek on them charging to use their less than sparkling bathroom facilities we just stood there looking round at what we could do for the next couple of hours. We had been told by one of the bus men that their was a café upstairs which would be open and served great food! We would leave the debate on great food for a little later but the first thing we wanted was a cup of tea to help try and warm us up.Thankfully en-route to the
café we met an Australian guy and his son who were also in the same boat as us. We all shared a table and got on really well considering the ungodly hour of the morning. It turns out the Dad originally came from Manchester. His was travelling for a short while with his son then his son was continuing his journey round the world and he was going to visit his parents in Manchester! It was certainly a mad place to meet someone from Manchester who hadn’t been there for nearly 30 years and was heading back there in a few months. It was a pity they were heading there so soon, otherwise it would have been nice to show them round some of Manchester’s sites!!!
Thankfully with all of the chatter a few cups of tea and an egg butty, which to be fair wasn’t bad at all, the time passed by quickly and thankfully when we next looked up at the clock it was 20 minutes or so before we got our next
