COPACABANA
By now it was getting near to lunch time and we all decided to go and check out one of the lunchtime special menus. These menus are just fantastic, you get a 3 course meal, usually consisting of a bowl of soup, a main course and a desert for about 50p!!! How cheap is Bolivia?? We opted for a slightly more expensive restaurant, as much as 60p a meal(!) and ordered. Thankfully we were in no rush as the food did take quite a while to arrive but what do you expect for 60p? The food was really good and it was great to catch up with all Phil’s travelling stories and hear about his mad bike ride down the world’s most dangerous road!
After lunch we all went back to the hostel and headed up to our balcony. I nipped for a quick shower and by the time I’d finished Rob and Phil were enjoying a beer or two on the balcony so it would have been rude not to join them! We could see the Isla del Sol
boat about to pull up, I would say dock but really it wasn’t that grand of a boat, and I thought I’d pop down and see if Andie was on it. Thankfully she was, phew at last we had found her!! She’d met a group of people on the boat trip who were going for a beer so I went back to get Rob and Phil then we met up with everyone in one of the lakeside bars. Again quite a grand term for what was basically a round plastic table and 6 chairs, the bar was completely void of any kind of decoration and fairly gloomy so it was good to be able to sit outside.
As usual one beer lead to another and things were starting to get lively. We decided to move to a nicer bar and check out the menus on the tourist street. Copacabana was a great little place and all of the bars and restaurants on the main touristy street offer free drinks so basically you can walk up the whole street without having to buy a drink!
