LA PAZ
Rurrenabaque by now and we were still stuck at the airport, nearly an hour after we’d been given the go ahead. There was only 1 guard for passport and bag search duty and the other guards seemed to take great delight in standing and watching this busy guy!

After the passport and bag search was complete we waited for a little longer and the rains had started in La Paz once again! After what seemed like an eternity the final door was unlocked and we were able to make our way to our very military looking plane! Relief but we weren’t there yet, our guide had told us that a couple of days ago a plane got to within 10 minutes of landing before it was turned back due to a wet field! Would we ever get there?! The inside of the plane was basic, but we had seats, we were on it and we were hoping that we would be taking off pretty soon. A few people came and walked up and down the aisle and a girl put her
brolly up as there was water coming from the overhead panel! Wow were we feeling safe and secure? Eventually the propeller engines roared into life and all was looking good! After another few minutes the pilot let the handbrake off and we started to move!!! Wow, we were finally on our way and within minutes we were airborne and floating across the Bolivian skies. Well it was a little bit bumpy and you couldn’t see anything out of the windows due to the onslaught of rain but hey we were up and away.
