KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
a bungalow. When we first booked Kruger we thought we would be heading back to Nelspruit to drop off the hire car, as we had first planned to take the baz bus (backpacker transport) down the coast to Durban. This was of course before we found our great car deal. So Berg-en-Dal was fairly close to the southern gate of the park. It also didn’t have the best reputation for seeing wildlife but has recently been renovated and had won awards for being the best rest camp.

We saw the usual suspects on the way to the camp but it was incredibly hot and I think we were all a little bit tired of being in the car all day, so we decided to head straight for the camp and have a chilled out afternoon. On arriving at the camp we realised that we were right to do this. The bungalow was great and it did make a nice change to have your own kitchen and bathroom. We had a lovely lazy afternoon, chilling around
and I think we all managed a little siesta!

Later on we headed back to the reception as we wanted to do a sunset drive. Unfortunately it was full so we decided to head out ourselves. The scenery was very different again and it was rather hilly which made a nice change. We saw an old elephant having a big long drink, a tortoise, giraffes and a rhino - not bad really! We were treated to another wonderful sunset and stopped at the camp shop for a few supplies on route back to our bungalow.

That night we had our last braai in the park. It wasn’t too much of a success due to the braai grill being really high and us not having enough charcoal to heat it properly! So we ended up finishing most of it off on the stove! Still the food was great and it really didn’t matter how it was
