VANG VIENG

2ND - 8TH DECEMBER

A tuk tuk came to collect us and take us to our bus to Vang Vieng, which to be honest was only round the corner and we could have walked it quicker than it took in the tuk tuk - but hey this is Laos time after all! Our bus wasn’t in slightest like the one on the advertising poster but we ended up with the front 2 seats and probably had the most room out of anyone else on the bus! The driver was also sane and we went through some amazing countryside so it made for rather a pleasant 3 hour(ish) bus ride.

We had eyed up a place to stay from a leaflet we picked up from our guesthouse in Vientiane, it was called Les Jardin de Vang Vieng and about 10 minutes walk outside of the main town. First we needed to get to their sister guesthouse and once there we found out that we could get a free tuk tuk ride down to the bungalows. We were hoping that these bungalows would be
good as the town itself was something of a tourist haven! Hurray the place was lovely and we ended up with a basic bungalow for the grand total of £1.75 per night, definitely are best price yet for accommodation! It is so hard to believe the price of things in southeast Asia, the quality of accommodation for the price is far superior to anything else we have had, which in turn so helps with our budget so much. The only down side was that they were doing some building work, building more luxury villas, but again this really didn’t affect us too much, due to the chilled approach to work that the builders seemed to adopt!

The countryside around us was amazing and it was so sunny and warm. We were away from the main hustle and bustle of the town, right next to the river with some awesome views from our bargain bungalow - pure heaven! After a quick snack to check out the on-site restaurant,
