TOKYO
Liberty first and yeap believe me it is exactly the same as the one in New York! We couldn’t work out whether it was there as a tribute to America or what, there was just a little plaque saying that it was more or less the same as it US’s sister! After a few photo’s we decided to talk a walk around the island, the views over Rainbow Bridge and back towards Tokyo’s skyline were superb and even though there was a definite icy chill in air, it was great to be in the winter sunshine! There were a few very nice but small parks which we spotted on our wander but after a good hours walking we were starting to head towards the business district so we headed back towards the Fuji TV Tower. On the way we spied another Am/Pm shop, so it was straight in there for a warming cheese filled bun!!! We were aiming to get to the tower just before sunset and lighting up time, as we would get the best of both worlds seeing it at sunset and dark. It was normally around a fiver to get in but when we got to the ticker counter
we were told that today was a free day!!! How good was that? We were very pleased with ourselves for managing to pick the free day to visit! It was a lego like building with a large titanium spherical viewing platform very high up! Fortunately the lift zipped you up there in no time at all and the view from the top was stunning. The sun was still shining which meant that you could see the distant mountains. Now on a clear day you are supposed to be-able to see Mount Fuji from Tokyo and we thought we’d spotted it! We weren’t exactly sure at first and got the zoom lens out to have a closer look, it looked fairly like it to us, and then when we heard a Japanese lady say something then Mount Fuji to her son, so we knew our instincts had been right! How lucky was that? Not only had we picked the only free day to visit the tower, we were also extremely fortunate to have gone there on a crystal clear day and get a distant view of Mount Fuji!!! Just bril
