temple as it was really crowded and there were lots of rituals being carried out. Again we didn’t really understand what was going on but again we felt very privileged to have been able to see them.

The were loads of little off-shoots from the main temple, places with small gardens and waterfalls, or just other small temples or areas for prayer. Time was ticking by and we thought it would be a good idea to head down to the harbour, so we walked down to the boat stop to buy our tickets. This too seemed mighty complicated, there isn’t much at all written in English, which does make it hard to know if your buying the right ticket, especially when they are quite expensive. But we opted for the one way ticket and hoped for the best!

The boat was a big old wooden touristy thing, it

didn’t have great views but then we would be changing to another boat for the trip over to Odabia so it didn’t matter too much. The trip down the river was pleasant enough but it wasn’t the most picturesque area so we were hoping for better views from the other boat. We weren’t disappointed, the trip over to Odabia was great, we were on a far better boat and we could stand on top deck, and although it was freezing it was worth braving the cold for the views over the skyline. Our plans for Odabia were to visit the Fuji TV Tower, walk around the island or at least part of it, see Tokyo’s Statue of Liberty and visit Mega Web, Toyota’s premier car showroom! Now you may think the last one is a little strange but it had a host of touristy goodies inside to keep you entertained and more importantly out of the cold!
