ULURU
before with the Olgas but that seemed a lightly different rock to this, in some parts it looked like a pumice stone, others looked almost like sandstone and other parts seemed to have a black granite like substance running through it - it really is an ever changing piece of rock. We passed quite a few Aboriginal sacred sites which you are asked to keep off and headed up to one of the rock’s natural watering holes. This is one of the reasons why the rock had been so important to the Aboriginals as it gave them a source of water, again I have never really thought about this. The water beneath the waterfall seemed a really greenish colour and again we wondered what life must have been like before the days of the white man.

got to see so much and so many different faces of Uluru.
We were due to fly to Cairns at 14.50 and the shuttle bus did the rounds collecting people an hour or so before the flights, so we spent the rest of the day chilling out before the bus came to collect us. What a superb couple of days we’d just had, it certainly is a very special place and one that thankfully has been cherished. It was always one of our must do things and it more than lived up to our expectations, it was quite simply a fabulous experience. Next stop the Great Barrier Reef, another one of natures little treasures within this amazing country.
