ULURU
We met a couple of other people of the way round but other than that we had the place to ourselves - I don’t think the buses full of Japanese tourists were too equipped for the rainy weather!!! It was a great walk and we were fairly shattered by the end of it, but it wasn’t time to go home yet, we had one last thing we needed to do - drive back to Uluru and go and watch the sunset!!! We weren’t holding out too much hope, but we’d said that the night before so we lived in hope!
We pulled up at Sunset Point which is an well marked area and waited. Other hopeful souls turned up but it was still raining pretty hard and didn’t show any signs of letting up. You may think what I am about to say is exaggerated in some way but believe me it isn’t!!! You will see from the photo of me looking rather cheesed off about the fact that’s its chucking it down!!! About 5 minutes after that photo

was taken the rain started to ease and as if from nowhere the sky behind us turned a beautiful yellowy orange and seemed to unfold itself across the rest of the sky. We were stunned by the sheer beauty of the colours and just at the exact official minute of sunset, the colours on Uluru seemed to intensify and a beautiful full rainbow appeared right across the plane and over the right hand side of Uluru. The rainbow must have lasted for around 5 minutes then as quickly as it had come it was gone! This was just a perfect end to a rainy day, we couldn’t believe it, there was a small cheer from the weather hardy crowd and a sense of awe at the beauty unfolding right before our eyes. We were furiously clicking away to try and do our best at capturing this amazing sight but the rain was still falling and the lens was covered in water so unfortunately the photos aren’t great but hey I guess you can’t have everything!!! We felt very privileged to have seen a full rainbow over Uluru, it made you feel all
