ULURU
ace, and we were in the desert and not driving around Manchester City Centre, so that made it kind of OK!!! It was automatic which didn’t faze Rob, in fact I actually felt quite safe for a change with Rob driving - hee he, only joking!!! He loved it, it had gadgets galore, so he was in his element and I was reduced to being the map reader!!! Of course he had to be reprimanded on a couple of occasions - mainly for stopping then putting his foot down flat to the floor and seeing how fast it would accelerate and go through the gears!!! All good fun, but we had a rock to see and not much time to see it, so we didn’t hang around too much.
Before the rock we had the pleasure of visiting the Aboriginal Visitors Centre, which is a great place for checking out Aboriginal culture and is very informative about the hand-back of the land back which happened in the early 1990’s. It is amazing to see how

things go full circle and after years of trying to manage the land from a European point of view and doing so much damage, the old ways of land management have been reintroduced and the land is flourishing once more. It also is encouraging to see how two communities who were once so at odds with each other are now happily working with each other. After this visit we headed off round the rock.
We took the cheats way and drove around Uluru!!! It was an incredible site, and one of the best sites I have ever seen out of a car window. It was also great Rob driving as I could take loads of pictures of it, from every angle going!!! It is something that I find very difficult to put into words the feeling this place gives you, it is such an incredibly large piece of rock. It is vast in size and to try and come to terms with the fact that it is only one piece of rock is pretty hard. Secondly it makes you
