NORTHERN THAILAND
were beginning to wonder whether we should have opted for the 1 hour ride but were trying to forget the pain by pinning our hopes on the elly bathing session! After about an hour we got down to the river and our elephant man hopped on, well climbed on with greater ease than either me or Rob and off we went into the river. He then asked us if we wanted to go swimming we agreed after a short think as to whether we should due to the brown murky water, but by this point the other elly’s we in the water and splashing around so we thought what the hell!

Wow I can’t put into words how great it was! To roll around a river with an elephant is an amazing experience, they love it and so did we. She started to sit down, we were told to hold on then she seemed to just go down on her knees! The currents in the river we fairly strong but we easily made our way to the side, both laughing our heads off, this was brilliant fun! We were all having a great time, so we climbed aboard again and did much of the same thing for the next half an hour, check out the expressions on our faces on the photos! Thankfully all of the elephant guides are brilliant at taking photos so a great big thanks to them for recording one of the best things that either of us have ever done!

When we got back to the elephant camp we got off and we walking like John Wayne!!! We bought Phanom lots of thank you bananas and fed them to her for which she seemed to be very pleased. They are so sweet, and gentle for such big animals. We got
