NEW SOUTH WALES
more of a hill by our standards!! Still, in the heat of the day by the time we were nearing the top we’d got to thinking that the views had better be worth it!! We reached a funny kind of tower thing which was obviously the top, only one thing was missing - there were no views at all!!!! The bush land and forest was so think there was no way you could see through it to the sea!! Highly disappointed, we figured that it couldn’t really be the top, so carried on. We reached a point where there was a bit of a glimpse of the sea, but really not what you’d really call a view!!! The only thing for it was to rest a while, and then head back down again!!! Despite the lack of views it was a pleasant enough walk, and after all the exercise we had a fairly chilled afternoon hanging around the campsite. Each pitch had a little fireplace with a metal barbie lid which folded down. I couldn’t resist having a go at cooking on a real fire - I don’t think I’d cooked anything on a real fire since I was in the
scouts, so was itching to try. Hel was pretty sceptical about this idea, and as it turned out was right to be!! Let’s just say it didn’t go quite as smoothly as I’d hoped, and the end result was an edible, if slightly charred barbied veggie tea!!!!

The next day was the 6th February, or in other words, MY BIRTHDAY!! Hurray!! We’d planned to go into nearby Bateman’s Bay for tea later on, but we started the day with a lovely walk along the coast for a couple of hours. It was a beautiful sunny day for the first time in a while, and a perfect start to the day. We ended up at some rocks with some pretty big waves crashing into them - definitely the best weather I’ve ever had for my birthday, and pretty nice scenery! This was followed up by a swim in the sea - another birthday first. After a quick shower we were off to the town for some more birthday fun. First stop was Birdland Wildlife
