MENDOZA

21ST - 1ST MARCH

It was a nice feeling to be heading back to lovely Argentina. We were both looking forward to Mendoza, the Wine capital of Argentina and back to my favourite Malbec! We had booked an early bus and were very much looking forward to the journey as we would be heading over a very high mountain pass which passed through Parque Provincial Volcan Tupungato! It was incredibly scenic and the weather was good. We had a long wait at the border and time seemed to drag on. The border seemed very chaotic which surprised us somewhat, but after about an hour and a half we jumped back on the bus and headed off back into Argentina, passing Acongagua, the highest mountain outside of the Himalayas, a truly fantastic sight, all snow and ice covered with high winds blasting the face.

The hostel was great in fact it was more like a motel room than a hostel, which suited us just fine! First
priorities were to watch Chelsea in their Champions League match which was a close run affair with Barcelona, but my boys turned on the style and proved just how great they really are! After all of the excitement of the football the rest of the evening was spent in a more chilled manner, it had been a long day and sightseeing would just have to wait until tomorrow.

We were up fairly handy and after checking internet we headed into town. It was a really lovely place with wide tree lined pedestrian streets and a whole host of open air café bars. You had to pinch yourself to remind you that you were in Argentina and not somewhere in Madrid! We also found 3 veggie restaurants but plumped for the one serving the good old all you can eat! Thankfully it was very healthy food which made a nice change and the food was top quality. With very full stomachs we headed back to our hostel and after having a
