met, told us to keep a look out for Caimen alligators which are supposed to reside in the waters above the falls. We didn’t spot any but did see some amazing birds and being out on the boardwalks walking over the extremely wide and calm river did give you a sense of calm before the storm. It was a good 20 minutes of walking before the roar of Garganta del Diablo lured us closer and faster to the end of the boardwalk.
As you approached the boardwalks which give you the closest access to Garganta del Diablo, the sound is just deafening and the view of the water disappearing over an almighty drop is a joy to the senses. The sound, spray and overall atmosphere of the place was quite simply overwhelming, never had I seen natures power and beauty so close up, it was incredible. We had chosen the right time to go as no tour groups were anywhere to be seen and the crowds were thankfully small.
