IGUAZU FALLS
were in South America for 6 months spending most of their time doing bird research or something like that! It all sounded very interesting though and they were a really nice couple. We ended up getting a taxi to the falls with them as they had all their backpacks on as they were heading to the Argentine side after the Brasilian side, and it was also the same price as the bus, so no contest really.

It was worryingly busy at the entrance to the falls and we weren’t too sure what to expect once inside the park. After queuing for around 20 minutes we took the shuttle bus to the start of the falls and we were eager to see this natural spectacle. Iguazu Falls is located on the boarder of Brasil, Argentina and Paraguay and is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the world. Nothing can prepare you for the outstanding view you see before your eyes. There are 275 different waterfalls stretching over
some distance that crash some 80 metres down to the river Iguacu below and the thunderous roar of the water is mind-blowing. Our first glimpse of the wall of water was over to the Argentine side and there are numerous waterfalls peeping out at you from the deeply forested park. It is breathtaking to say the least and of course this is only your first glimpse, the best is always saved till last! There is a well marked path that leads you down past many beautiful waterfalls to the star of the show, the mighty Garganta del Diablo or Devil’s Throat. This has surely got to be one of the natural wonders of the world, no words can describe the immense power that this body of falling water has on you, the stupendous roar is one thing but the sheer size and scale takes this place to another level. This semicircular body of water that plunges down at great speed and with an gargantuan sound makes every hair on your body tingle with excitement, it is a mesmerising spectacle of mother nature and makes you feel so
