superior medium. He was a really nice guy and I didn’t want to get into a petty argument over film versus digital! He then launched into many other aspects of modern life that upset him dearly so I guessed he would be very much looking forward to getting back to basics at David’s Place. He had also done a fair bit of travelling and had been to Hawaii so he gave us some good tips - although I suspect that he has a far bigger bank balance than we do, especially after him recommending a diving holiday in the Maldives!!!

We were on the boat for around 2 and a half hours in total. We’d passed some superb scenery and the colour of the water was to die for. It was the most incredible turquoise and so clear that you could almost see the coral reefs from the distance of the boat. This was definitely no question about it - a paradise island! As the boat is too large to reach the shore, when it is your
turn to get off, the resorts send little transfer boats for everyone. It was a bit of a free for all getting off and making sure your bags got onto the right boat, but again you seemed to have faith in the crew and we were right to do so - our bags always made it to where we were going!

The tide was out when we arrived at David’s Place which meant that we could only go so far up to shore before having to get out and walk to the shore. It was such a pleasure to finally get into this water, it was crystal clear, lovely and warm and looked so utterly inviting that everyone wanted to swim over to the island, never mind just walk! Our bags were all carried off the boat for us and everyone from the resort came out to meet us. We received an incredibly warm welcome and we were thanking our lucky stars that we’d had the privilege of visiting the beautiful Fijian islands. After checking in Fiji
