people who were staying at the resort were looking a little uneasy about hearing how God is love, God is everything and lets all thank God for being God - yeah whatever! The missionaries did a really good job of eradicating the original Polynesian language and convincing these people that they were nothing but of bunch of cannibals and savages. So therefore it was the missionaries right to totally eradicate not only the culture but the religion, belief systems and gods of the south seas and what better thing to turn to than Christianity - hmmmm. I will say no more but I do have strong issues with this kind of brainwashing, what the Christian missionaries did in the Pacific and various other places we have seen is no different to what the Chinese government are doing to Tibet and it’s culture now - utterly unforgivable. To brighten the mood and move the crowds attention away from God, there was a Korean family staying at the resort who had a little 2 year old boy. Grandma who was stood at the back of the
children was saying a prayer and you could see all of the kids in the front row were starting to get bored and were fidgeting and smiling at people. Then from out of nowhere this little Korean child breaks free from his parents and makes a dash over to the line of Fiji children. The Fijian children started to gather around him all smiling and trying to hug and hold his hand, the next minute the Korean kid starts doing Kung Fu punching and kicking at them much to their amazement and his parents horror! It was absolutely hilarious the whole crowd burst out laughing much to Grandma’s annoyance but hey what could you do - you couldn’t have written a comedy sketch better than that - it was a total cross culture moment - just fantastic!!! After this the Fijian kids had had enough of singing but were forced to carry on, the Korean kid was safely back in the tight arms of his mother who was looking rather embarrassed!
