FIJI
things we got up to! Lunch was good and thankfully there was enough for Rob this time! In a vain attempt to actually do something we headed off for a walk around the coast in the afternoon. We didn’t get very far, not because we’re lazy or anything but just because you couldn’t really walk round very far. The tide was out and we didn’t want to walk over all of the nearly exposed coral. Again it was incredibly windy which was good while we were on our walk as it kept us nice and cool. We also heard about the next resort serving afternoon tea, so we headed down there around 4 pm for a cup of tea and slice of banana cake. The rest of the day was spent in a similar fashion to the previous day, chilling and reading. I was reading Secrets of Angels and Demons which is about the book by Dan Brown. It written by the same people who wrote Secrets of the Code and basically tells you all of the historical and factual bits that Dan Brown got wrong, even though he claims his books are based on fact! It was good
in some places but a bit high brow in others, but at 575 pages a perfect companion for lazy days in the wonderful Yaswasa islands! Rob had finished all the books he had, so had to settle for the only two English books available in the Nadi hostel, so he was reading a book set in sixteenth century Japan!!

At dinner we met some Portuguese people who were living and working out in Fiji and the man was an avid football fan so we had a good long chat about the football god who is Jose Mourino and the forthcoming world cup! Our talk was interrupted by the fact it was Sunday and the children of the village were going to come and sing for us after dinner. This part of Fiji is incredibly Christian due to the fact that they were basically forced into it by the missionaries who invaded along with the usual European suspects. It was slightly unnerving hearing these fiercely religious songs and most of the
