ZION & BRYCE CANYONS

18TH - 22ND AUGUST

After a couple of hours we found ourselves nearing the town of Hurricane, our overnight stop. Thankfully the scenery had changed from monotonous semi desert to a more rugged and green terrain. Our Travelodge didn’t look quite so good in real life as it did on their website and we kind of thought that we’d be giving the pool a miss, due to it being located right next to the busy road. We checked in and the rooms were brilliant, they were huge, big enough to sleep the lot of us if we’d so wished! After a coffee we thought it was about time we got the accommodation booked for Bryce. We hadn’t really worried about it before now as there were a couple of motels with rooms numbering over 300, so we thought no problem! Fools!!! I gave them a call only to be told that they were fully booked for the first night!!! Oh no, it was definitely the place we needed to stay due to its proximately to Bryce Canyon. I came off the phone not believing what I had heard and even tried phoning
again but got the same reply. Arrhhh accommodation crisis! Suddenly Sue said that if needs must, then she didn’t mind camping and was quite prepared to go and buy a tent and necessaties! So the next thing I know we were nipping down to the local Walmart to get Sue and Eddie kitted out with a tent! Thankfully we knew Walmart did a huge range of cheap camping stuff, so were happy in the knowledge that they could buy something half decent! After getting back from the “Asda” we checked out the new camping purchase before heading out for something to eat.

The options for food looked fairly limited but turned out to be fantastic. We had thought we’d end up eating take-away pizza but ended up stumbling into an ‘all you can eat‘ diner with a fantastic salad bar! Rob and Andy were in their elements as it was Friday, and therefore all you can eat fish and shrimp day as well! The options were
