thankfully they didn’t seem to mind! Sitting there in that small metal boat did wonders for your soul and freeing our minds of website/email hassle and you felt like you were a million miles away from modern life and all of the stresses it brings. Life here was simple but good. Even though our conversation with the boat men was fairly limited it didn’t stop them ensuring we had the best of boat trips. Each time we saw a Caiman or anything else that caught our eye, they would stop the boat and wait until we had finished taking photos! At one point though we did get a little too close for my comfort! We saw a big Caiman chilling on a muddy patch near to the side and the boat man stopped the boat for us to take photos and look at the magnificent specimen, the only thing was that the boat man didn’t move for ages. The Caiman had obviously spotted us and had its eyes firmly locked on us! Seeing as we didn’t move, it started to open its mouth as if they say - back off’! By this point I was the
closest to it and it must not have been more than 10 feet away. To be face to face with a creature like that is quite unnerving and the boat man seemed highly delighted by this fact, he kept giggling and saying something which we figured was along the lines of ‘don’t worry it won’t attack’! The caiman was looking less than pleased and started opening its mouth wider and wider. Its mouth was incredible and it was quite an experience to say the least! Thankfully for me, we had drifted a little and this time it was the boat mans turn to be nearest to this amazing creature. Wow we were close up and personal to this things and it was fabulous, although neither of us felt the need to do a Steve Irwin and wrestle the thing!
