ESTEROS DEL IBERá
arrived in Mercedes 15 minutes after the bus to Buenos Aires had left - hmmm! This meant that we had over 5 hours to kill. Luis said that he knew a great place for breakfast, we had our reservations but followed nonetheless! The breakfast place he was on about was the hostel that we had stayed in! We knew the breakfasts weren’t great but managed to order some croissants and coffee. We were all feeling a little shell shocked and just wanted to sleep but this was out of the question so we headed on down to the nearest internet café to kill some time. Thankfully I managed to speak to Mum and Merly so the time passed quickly enough. We also managed to book some accommodation in Buenos Aires so things were looking up.

Before we knew it, it was time for us to head down to the bus terminal and catch our next bus. We had an 11 hour bus journey ahead of us and we were just wishing we could fast forward
time. Thankfully the bus was vast improvement from our early morning one and we got fed, watched back to back movies and slept our way to Buenos Aires. We finally pulled into the 75 lane bus terminal around 11.30 p.m. It had been a very long day! Luis was determined to do his bit for the tourist industry and made sure we were safely put into a taxi with strict instructions for the taxi driver not to rip us off and the next thing we know we are knocking on our hostel door, looking like two waif and strays!

The hostel was fantastic and in an old colonial building so after a quick shower we climbed into bed for a well deserved sleep! Reserva Provincial Esteros del Ibera had been a wonderful experience and we felt very privileged to have seen such a wonderful array of animals the only thing we wouldn’t be missing was the dodgy old buses
